Work that runs in the background

Some things the cabinet does take longer than a click: preparing a campaign of fifty thousand recipients, importing an address book, cleaning a base, building an export. The cabinet does not freeze while they run and does not make you wait on a blank screen.

How it looks​

The button starts the work and hands back control at once. What you see next depends on where you are, and there are only two shapes.

A counter in place. Sending, importing, cleaning and the HLR check show progress right where you started them — a bar with a percentage that climbs to 100%, and a line saying what is happening now.

When it lands, the percentage is replaced by a completion mark.

A message in the corner. Exports work the other way round: you carry on, and the cabinet tells you when the file is ready, with a button to save it. If something went wrong, it says so and why.

You do not have to wait on the page​

The work continues whether the tab is open or not. Sending a campaign is the clearest case: it appears in Manual mailings the moment it is accepted, in the preparing state, and you can close the form and watch it there instead.

The one thing worth waiting for is the result of an export: the file is handed to the browser when it is ready, so leaving that page early means starting the export again.

Stopping something you started​

Long work can be cancelled while it runs — the Cancel button sits beside the progress. What has already gone out stays gone: cancelling a campaign in preparation stops the messages that have not left yet, and does not recall the ones that have.

One press is enough​

Every one of these actions gets a number the moment it is accepted, and that number is what the cabinet follows until the work lands. So one press is enough: the progress you are looking at is the work itself, and it keeps going at its own pace whether you watch it or not.
